The indoor classroom environment will contain cool coloured walls, natural light and flexible seating. The aim for this space is to bring as much of the outdoors into the room as possible through natural materials and woodsy themes.

In this image you can see our play kitchen which is stocked with real food and cooking materials such as pots and pans. In the back of the room there is a wooden house which creates a calm reading space. The branches you see on the walls are actually dim lights to add some extra light to the room if needed. The carpet contains pillows and blankets to provide a cozy space to be used for lessons, activities and individual exploration.

Here you can see bean bag chairs as a form of flexible seating as well as our unique rounded windows and twig lamps.

Featured here is our reading corner. Complete with a rocking chair and cushions; we invite parents to read with their children every day. Most group lessons are done in this area.

It is important that my classroom has a cozy and outdoorsy feel to it. My aim is to reduce the amount of stimulation my students receive on a daily basis. Studies have shown that calming classroom environments will minimize anxiety and stress therefore, creating a better learning environment. The images above are examples of what I aim to create in my future classroom.
